Gong Xi Fa Cai
During the 2013 Chinese New year.
My day started on a fun run of the Red Cross. We wore red shirt and was given free whistle(which was red) on the registration day. The gunshot started around 6 in the morning and I run together with hundreds of volunteers. There are government officials, teachers, students, police, and athletes. I am very excited and this excitement was added by the view of dogs who run with their masters. There was a beagle, and there was also a husky. Oh, there was also two dogs which I don't know the breed. I run and sometimes walk with my friend. Avoiding to get bored we wore earphones. We ran and walked 3K and we have finished around 7AM. After the fun run, there was a short program. But before that, Red Cross distributed certificates and pandesals. A few minutes run by, and I was about to leave with a couple of my friends when we heard the announcer that there will a Dragon Dance, so we stayed awhile and watched the fascinating Dragon Dance. It was cute!!! After that, we finally went home.
Well, my day continued when I planned to attend a mass with some friends. We went to Sacred Heart Church and when we arrived, we found out that the church is also celebrating the Chinese new year. I was baffled because most of the readings and songs were in Mandarin which is the dialect of the Chinese. Even though I don't understand some parts of the mass, I have felt the gratitude of the Filipino-Chinese and even the Chinese citizens on that event. After that we planned to went to when there was a firework display. It was fantastic!!! With all those sparkling lights illuminating the sky. It was wonderful even though there are some of it which fell on the ground. It was a tiring but very exciting and joyous day for me. Because it was my first time to attend a mass with lots of Chinese and a mass with readings in Mandarin. And it was also my first time to watch a Dragon dance aside from watching it on TV.
Everyone was so happy at that time.
